A new journey has begun for two girls who were under Samoa Victim Support’s shelter care, as they departed for New Zealand.

The girls will be attached to the Samoan Alofa Homestay Programme for three months.  Coordinated by Pastor Jeremy and Shelly Faumuina of S.V.S.G Christchurch, the programme is funded by the Christchurch network of churches in New Zealand, focusing on the girls’ self-confidence and exposure to life outside the Campus.

The girls have enrolled in short courses and work placement that interests them.

As the second group of girls to undertake the programme, the survivors were excited while preparing for the trip.

They looked forward to meeting new people and experiencing life as responsible teenagers.

This is part of the reintegration programmes for the older girls at the shelter.

Shelly Faumuina traveled to accompany the girls and S.V.S.G President, Siliniu Lina Chang, was at the airport to see them off.

“This is S.V.S.G’s vision, and on this 11th year of service to the people of Samoa, S.V.S.G remains true to its vision of ensuring that victims of crime and those in need are well supported, safe and in control of restoring their lives,” Siliniu said.

“We are so proud of you girls.  Have a safe journey and God Bless!”
