Different cultures in Turkish, Spanish and Samoan combined to witness the happy marriage of Denise Pologa Senel and Adam Senel at Taumeasina Island Resort this week.

Denise Pologa is the daughter of Kofeula Pologa and Otinelu Pologa. She is the fourth from the eldest and the last of the girls in the family to get married. Her father held back no emotions when he walked her down the aisle.

Families and friends from New Zealand, Australia and Samoa witnessed the sweet exchange of vows and promises, committed to a new life long journey together as husband and wife.

Denise explained their first encounter.

“We met at a night out and six years later, here we are getting married,” she said.

Asked how she knew she loved him, her answer was simple.

“There are so many reasons why I love him. But most of all I love him because he loves my family just as much as I do.”

She explained that while she came from a Samoan background, Adam never questioned anything to do with her family.

“Anything that I need or my family needs, he always supports and provides for me,” Denise said.

“He has such a good heart and he absolutely loves my family and that is why he is the one God has blessed me with for so many years.

Anyone who is Samoan would understand the saying that if you marry a Samoan you ultimately marry their family too. Adam comes from two cultures, his mother is Spanish and his father is Turkish.

According to Denise the different cultures only brought them together.

“I am very blessed to have his mom and her partner, they treat me like their own from the start,” she said.

They were engaged last year and on their first visit together in Samoa, they knew without a doubt that they wanted to have their wedding here.

“We always knew from there on that we wanted to get married in Samoa. He absolutely loves Samoa,” Denise said.

In having celebrated their day, the couple thanked all those who were there in making their day one for the books.

“People we have thought would not be able to make it to our day have gone to great lengths to be here with us. And that goes to all our families and friends. I hope they know how deeply grateful we are for them,” Mrs. Senel said. “You can have a fancy wedding and everything but to be surrounded by the people you love and care is what makes it for us.”
