Runners from the world compete in Savai’i Games
The fantastic inaugural Samoa Events Savaii Games has come to a close with the Savaii Marathon on Saturday. Fifty runners of all ages from all over the world including many from the big island competed in over five distances.
It was the very first marathon event on Savai'i. Bobby Lopaki Caerni of New Jersey, USA is the inaugural Marathon winner. The event was run in humid conditions.
There was some relief from the head wind into Salelologa, but that was negated by the direct morning sun. There was massive support from the Savaii Samoa Tourism Association on the inaugural marathon, as well as from Samoa Stationery and Books and the Samoa Shipping Corporation.
