Put your heart and soul into the smallest acts.

This is the secret to success.

These are wise words from Viliamu Solo of Vailele and Lotofaga.

Speaking to the Village Voice yesterday, the 60 year old said he works as a gardener for a family at Ululoloa.

“Basically what I do, is cleaning their land by picking up the rubbish, mowing the lawn or weeding the grass and responsible for the gardens,” he told Village Voice.

“I get paid $150 a week and eventhough it’s not a lot, I’m still thankful because the cost of living is expensive which means whatever job you have, you should be thankful and appreciate every little thing you get.”

“This is not a job that many would never settle for because it gets your hands dirty but I’m okay with it.”

“A job is a job and I’m strong enough to handle it on my own.”

Mr. Solo is a father of 7 children, all working for the family but that has never been a reason for Mr.Solo not to still work.

“My children are all working for the betterment of our own family.”

“I don’t want to rely on others and they don’t want to rely on others so we work our best for our own good.”

“That’s why I consider my family as a successful one because no one’s depending on anyone.”

“I think that’s the kind of family you need in these hard times.”

Mr. Solo feels humbled with everything he has so far.

“People are always looking for so much more but to me, whatever I have been blessed with, I’ve accepted it with gratitude.”

“I love the work that I do and I’m not ashamed of it.”

“I’m a gardener; I’m outside of the house everyday doing useful work to our community.”
