Hands tied at home

Dear Editor

Re: Global role for Controller and Chief Auditor

How interesting!!! Isn't delaying yearly audit reports a 'violation of legislative performance targets or in simple term = integrity violation?

Is that the reforms you're talking about? Without pressure from Maua Faleauto - those reports would probably be swept under the mat, just like integrity violations in OPC Report 2010.

Thanks to the many workshops about corruption and pressure from honest people, he's finally buckled because his family connections made his appointment as Chief Auditor very controversial.

In the Democratic world it is called 'conflict of interest' or 'nepotism'.

That's why he could not table yearly audit reports of government ministries because his father in law is the leader of the government and the government is very corrupt.

Congratulations to the man anyway for getting a high profile appointment, he's a capable guy but his hands were always tied when he's at home.
