Money wise competition empowers young people

The Central Bank of Samoa congratulated the winners of their “Be Money Wise Poster Competition and Build Your Savings Piggy Bank/ Money Box Competition” last Friday.

The prize giving wrapped up the Global Money Week 2018.

The competition was part of the Global Money Week celebration, which is an annual event coordinated by Child & Youth Finance International. 

Global Money Week is a worldwide celebration designed to empower children and youth to be confident and responsible economic citizens.

The poster competition was a creative outlet for kids to demonstrate their imaginations and knowledge about money choices with regards to Spending.

The Build Your Savings Competition targeted college students from years 9 to 12 to challenge them to be creative in building their own piggy bank or money box in order to help them save money for their goals.

The poster competition focused on primary school students and was divided into 3 categories; Category 1 ‘Years 3-4, Category 2 ‘Years 5-6’ and Category 3 ‘Years 7-8’. 

The top 5 winners from category win a cash prize of $100 tala, also their respective school were awarded with $100 for each winning entry from the Central Bank.

The Central Bank of Samoa thanked Business Systems Ltd’s Meilan Meredith and the management team for the kind sponsorship. Here are some photos from the prize giving last Friday.
