The Samoa Tag (Rugby) Incorporated kicked off their second tournament last weekend Saturday at the Marist Brother’s grounds at Mulivai, in a bid to grow the sport.

The one-day tournament was the second Tag tournament for Samoa.

A total of 21 teams are taking part with the competition divided to Social Mix category, Men’s and the newly established Women’s division.

According to Samoa Tag (Rugby) Incorporated President Fa’aofonu’u Junior Leota, this second tournament follows the great success of the first tournament.

They are looking to host tournaments every month.

“We’ve had very successful feedback from the previous tournament,” he said.

“We believe these tournaments help generate and create the interest among players to know more about the game itself as well as the game rules.”

The Tau Warriors team won the Social Mix division last week, with Tau Taula Strong team coming in for second spot, and Tau Blenders in third.

The Women’s division saw Tau Maroons taking the first prize while Tau Titans finished second.

Tau Shakers won the Men’s division with Tau Taki claiming the second prize and Tau Maroons in the third spot.

Leota also added that the Samoa Tag Incorporated are looking to host their tournaments during the Samoa Independence as well as the Teuila, which will have teams from overseas to compete here in Samoa.
