Stop complaining and work harder

Sili Sili is not one to just sit back and watch life go by.

The 36-year-old from the village Pesega admits that life is not easy these days, but it will only get worse if you do nothing about it.

Sili works at the Mana Industry at Vaitele to provide for his family.

“I am sure that we can all agree that the cost of living is expensive nowadays,” he said.

“But the thing is, if we keep complaining and do nothing, we will just suffer.”

Sili believes that hard work and honesty are the main keys in life.

“I’ve been taught by my parents that if we really want to do something good with our lives, then we really need to work hard.

“No matter what you do, if you keep working hard and give it your all, you will definitely get what you want.”

Sili went on to say that people really need to be aware that they will never get anywhere if they just sit and complain.

“Like I said before, life is difficult. No one said it was going to be easy. But there are always ways to do it.

“Yes, the cost of living is expensive. But if we just complain and do nothing about it, it will only get worse.

“We all have different talents from God and we are all here for different purposes.

“If we use those talents to the best of our abilities, we can do so much to help our families.

“To tell you the truth, there are a lot of people who are struggling because of the cost of living.

“That’s why some have been saying that there is poverty in Samoa. But to me, there is no such thing as poverty.”

Sili is a true believer that your future is in your own hands.

“It’s up to you what you want to do with your life. It’s your choice. If you choose to just sit and wait around for things to be handed down to you, then that’s your choice.

“But if you want to get up and use your God-given talents to earn money for your families then, that’s really is your choice.

“Your future or the future of your family is in your own hands.

“Just keep working hard. You might not get the rewards straight away, but you will definitely get it in the long run.”
