Cabinet confirms C.E.O. appointments

Cabinet has confirmed the reappointment of two top position holders for the Samoa Shipping Corporation (S.S.C) and the Unit Trust of Samoa (U.T.O.S).

In a media release yesterday, it confirmed that Papali’i Mapuilesua Willie Nansen has been retained as the General Manager for the Samoa Shipping Corporation

The position is for three years.

Seven applicants had responded when the vacancy was advertised, and four were called in for interviews.

After interviews and assessment by the panel, a recommendation was submitted to Cabinet for the final decision.

Papalii is a Registered Accountant and has held the General Manager post for 15 consecutive years. He has worked in the Samoa Shipping Corporation for 29 years.

At U.T.O.S. Sa'u Fiapaipai Justina Sa'u-Lam has also been retained as the Chief Executive Officer for the next three years.

This is Sa'u's third term as C.E.O for the Trust since her initial appointment in 2011.

The vacancy was advertised twice for public interest, and only Sa'u submitted an application. The panel conducted an assessment of the application and called the applicant for an interview.

After assessment and the interview, a recommendation was submitted to Cabinet for the final decision.

Sa'u worked in the Samoa Ministry of Finance and was also a lecturer/tutor for the National University of Samoa and the University of Auckland in the past years.

She holds a Masters of Commerce (First Class Honours -Economics) from the University of Auckland New Zealand and had participated in many workshops and trainings in Samoa and overseas.

She hails from the villages of Apolima, Faala Palauli and Ululoloa. She is a member of the Catholic Church at Malotau Manono.

She is married and they have three children.
