Independent Prosecutor, Satiu Simativa Perese, hired by the Attorney General’s Office, has filed a counter appeal in the case of the former Director of the National Prosecution Office (N.P.O), Mauga Precious Chang.

This is the latest development in the ongoing saga involving Mauga.

Last month, Supreme Court Justice Mata Tuatagaloa convicted her of negligent driving causing injury.

Mauga, who is represented by former Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, has since appealed the criminal conviction.

This week, the matter was called for criminal mention before Chief Justice His Honour, Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu.

Kirstin Kruse of Drake and Company Law Firm stood in for Simativa while Arthur Lesa represented Aumua.

The matter has since been postponed for today to set a date to hear legal arguments on the counter appeal and the response filed by Mauga’s lawyer.

It was not possible to get a comment from Satiu about the grounds for his appeal.
