Positive thinking does it

“Think positive and then you will see the good in life.”

That is the message from Mr Pasi Lualua, 50 of Tuanai-Uta

Mr. Lualua is not your average kind of man because he has been through a lot in the past years.

From good to bad experiences he still chooses to believe that life: “is just getting better.”

“Well at the moment, I’m living with my son and I’m a single father.”

“I have three children but the other two are in American Samoa with their mother.”

“I have been experiencing a lot of complicated issues in the past years.”

“My relationship with my wife didn’t work out due to some of our very own personal reasons.”

“But then, that’s life; we get to experience so many things but what’s more important is never to let our problems define who we are because life is all about living.”

Village Voice met Pasi yesterday when he was on his way home from the plantation.

He described life as a farmer a true definition of hard work because despite all the difficulties in life, hard work will help you become that better person you want to be.

“I know for a fact that the cost of living is expensive and life is getting tough.”

“Yes, it is getting hard but it’s reality; we have no choice but to deal with it.”

“I recommend that the only way to cope with it is by working hard,” he said.

Furthermore, the 58 year old talks to the Village Voice about the importance of appreciating what we have or can get, even if it is something small.

“Just appreciate what we can afford instead of wanting more.”

“For me and my son, if we have ‘faalifu’ and tea for dinner, it is more than enough.”

“At least we have food.”

The father is also grateful for his son who works because he is the one who is looking after him in the meantime.

“I’m really thankful because he is working hard to provide for our little family.”

“He is such a blessing.”

“In days like these, things will not always turn out the way we want.”

“Therefore as we go through difficult days, be optimistic and see the good in everything. By doing that we will get through no matter how hard life gets.”
