Water Plant grows

The Manino Water Company has officially opened its new building extension at Vaitele-Tai.

They refurbished a warehouse, which means they can now produce their own bottles, ranging in capacity from 350mls to 4 litres.

The company was established in 2009, to deliver 15 litre bottles to local companies and government ministries. Managing Director Tagaloa Nua Vaai said the extension was something they had been planning for quite some time.

The project cost more than $300,000 to complete. It could have easily cost more, Tagaloa said, but her husband Tusa Uialatea Victor Vaai had handled it, saving the company money. “This is an old warehouse, and we just renewed it,” she said.

The project took 14 weeks to finish.

Some work still needs to be done, with machinery still needing to be installed, but the expanded production is ready to start.  Father Penitito Mauga was on hand at the opening yesterday to bless the new extension, and was honoured to have been invited along. Fulumoa Su’a cut the ribbon to officially open the extension.

Tagaloa said they have included a special room for their children, because they are young and they don’t want to leave them behind.  “Our theory, we run the business and look after the children, rather than running the business and leaving them behind.”

The company has about 20 staff members, including Tagaloa and her husband.
