Frankie's Company has again extended its chain of stores with the opening of its $2.5 million supermarket at Utuali’i yesterday.

The opening was attended by Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, Cabinet Ministers and other guests.

Managing Director, Frankie Cai, in his company address said: “We chose this location because of its central location on the main airport road. It is ideally located for the passing traffic of cars and buses travelling to and from work each day.”

The supermarket was designed and built by the Homemaker Construction Limited who also built the Frankie Hyper market at Vaitele.

“Utuali’i Frankie’s Supermarket has the ‘Hungry Franks’ restaurant, bakery which will supply fresh bread and bakery items everyday as well as a butchery,” Mr. Cai said.

“People from the district will now have access to all the products available in Apia at the same price they would pay there. Wholesale shopping for faalavelave is also available in the shop.

“Also A.T.M. machines for Bank of South Pacific, National Bank of Samoa and A.N.Z. will soon be installed at the Supermarket.”

Frankie’s Company employs about 700 Samoans with a large number being school leavers and young people. The Utuali’i store will employ about 80 people from within the district.

He added more than 30 workers who lost their jobs when the Yazaki Samoa closed down recently, have joined the company.

“With the opening of the supermarket, it will benefit the young school leavers in the Tuamasaga and Aana district in terms of future employment.”

Mr. Cai added that they are in talks with Digicel Telecommunication Company in setting up a computer lab in the newly-opened supermarket.

“This computer lab will be in the store to provide free internet facilities for the local village school children.

“This service is free and will definitely assist the students with their studies.”

Mr. Cai acknowledged the support of Utualii village in enabling them to open their 10th branch in their district.

He also wishes the people of Samoa a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The Utualii supermarket will be open from 6am until 9pm daily.
