Those who never sweat will never have anything good in their life.

Setefano Sosopo from the village of Faleula is certain that nothing in life is earned easily, it requires hard work.

The Village Voice team met the 41-year-old heading home with a wheelbarrow that was filled with firewood.

The father of four, despite both him and the mother of the family being unemployed, they choose to work the land.

He shared about the challenging, yet rewarding life he experiences every day.

“I have two children who both work and everyone has their own thing going on such as my youngest child who is still in school. There is no secret to having a simple and happy life, it’s basically working hard. Life is good, but it only becomes challenging for those who sit around and do nothing about the current status they are in,” he said.

Mr. Sosopo says they do not have a plantation, but they sell some goods from overseas for a living. He added they sometimes receive help from his parents who live overseas and this eases his burdens.

“My family barely has any problems because everyone works together regardless of being unemployed. I always make an effort to go work the land and make use of my time while my other two kids work to earn money to support our family on a daily basis.”

When asked about his school preparation for his only child, he says everything has been prepared for the commencing of school this year.

“The only thing we are waiting for now is for school to begin.”
