Daily challenge made easy by love of family

Joe Tamaseulagi of Tapatapao has a simple wish.

He dreams of one day being able to access clean drinking water at Tapatapao.

“We’ve lived here for 17 years and this is always the problem,” he said.

“Lucky we are all Samoans and people are kind enough to share water with us. If this is happening overseas, I think we would be in deep trouble.”

Joe fetches water from a family about 200 meters from their house.

“This is a daily struggle,” he said.

“Were very thankful when it rains. We are able to store water for drinking and for food, but for washing and cleaning, we walk 200 meters every day.

“So getting water for our family is a major task every day.”

“If only we have enough money we would have bought a water tank by now, but we are still trying to live with what we have.”

The 39-year-old is a single man with a heart for his family.

“Right now, I don’t have partner. I’m focusing on helping my siblings and their families.

“As you can see, I fetch water in the morning before I go to the plantation.

“These are all for our family. I would never get tired of doing it for I love my family.”
