The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries held its annual Agriculture Show at Salelologa Market on Friday.

The event was organised by the M.A.F. as an incentive for farmers to show off their produce.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi said in his speech that the event was not just a product showcase – it also encouraged farmers to keep planting products for their families.

“The theme for this year’s show is ‘agriculture and fisheries is the future of families, villages and the country’.

“This show is not only to showcase the work by the farmers, but it is also to encourage them that this is their future...through planting and growing of the products.

“We need to encourage that with the work on their plantation, and also, through fisheries, they will be able to build their families with the work of their hands.”

Farmers showed off a range of home-grown produce at the event, including cabbages, esi and much more. The show ended on Saturday with a prizegiving. Ah Liki Wholesale sponsored the event, giving out $3,000 worth of cash prizes and $4,000 worth of consolation prizes.
