The Samoa Commercial Bank (S.C.B) has done it again.

This time, they have donated $10,000 to Netball Samoa.

The money was presented to Netball at S.C.B’s office on Tuesday.

Representative of the Bank, Fanua Ah Sam, told the Samoa Observer the money is part of the Bank’s desire to give back to the community.

“The $10,000tala is to help with the Netball Samoa with their preparations to the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana next month,” Fanua said.

“This is not the first time we have donated to Netball but the main purpose is to help the community in terms of sports.”

Netball Samoa Coach, Lee Watson Edwards, said they are extremely grateful to S.C.B.

“At the moment Netball Samoa is focusing its full attention on the main event: the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana in July,” she said.

“We have a team of 12 players which include six from Australia, five from New Zealand and one local player.

“The competition starts on the 5th to the 16th July and twenty countries will be competing in this event and we are coming under the Oceania Federation together with Fiji, New Zealand and Cook Islands.

“The rankings that we had in the last world cup were 10 so I’m hoping that we will improve and I’m confident that we will do well.

“We have a strong but very young team. We will be meeting in Perth and there, we will be having a trial against the Australia under 21 as warm up game.

“That will be a good game to get the girls focused on the level of competition because Australia is second in the world and it will be good for the girls.”

Ms. Edwards said this is not the first time the bank has helped Netball and they are extremely grateful.
