Commencing October 1, 2018, domestic and non-domestic electricity users will be charged with a new set of tariff.

A statement issued by the Electric Power Corporation and signed by General Manager Tologata Galumalemana Togia Tile states the change in tariff per unit of electricity was approved by the Regulator.

The Order by the Regulator approved changes in the energy charge based on the fuel charges for the month of August 2018, in light of the contribution by Independent Power Producers, said the statement.

According to the statement, domestic consumers using induction meters will be charged a total cost of $0.84 per unit and non-domestic consumers $0.94 per unit.

Domestic users of prepayment meter or cash power will pay $0.70 per 100 units and $0.84 per unit for a purchase of more than 100 units. Non-domestic consumers will be charged $0.84 per unit, the statement said.
