It’s all about my children, Father of three says

Nothing worth having comes easy.

And we all have to do what’s best for us and our families no matter what.

This is the very reason Sani Howard works hard every day.

Sani from Palisi sells hot dogs for a living and whatever he earns is used on his family.

He was selling hot dogs on the side of the road when the Village Voice team approached him yesterday.

“My hot dogs are $2.50 and that price never changes,” Sani said.

“I work from Monday to Saturday and I know it’s an affordable price and people always buy what they can afford.”

Sani, 37, is a father of three.

“I also need the money which is why I can’t go any higher with the price of my hot dogs,” he said.

“It’s better to have something and help my family rather than having nothing and my family starves to death and that’s something we all don’t want to experience.

“I do this because this is my way to take care of my family especially my children who are in school and this is why selling hot dogs means so much to me.

“It’s been too long and I work hard at it because I’m the head of the family and it is my responsibility to feed them and make sure that they are okay.

“My wife doesn’t work but she takes care of our kids and things at home while I come and walk around to sell these hot dogs.

“This is for our children’s education, our food and anything else that we need to survive.”

Sani said his hot dogs were always sold out before the end of the day.

“I think I’ve been to a lot of places in the town area because I walk everywhere to sell,” Sani said.

“You know the more places I go; the faster my hot dogs sell.

“We are from the same creation and God has gifted us with different talents so you always have something that you’re good at to help your own life.”

Aside from that, Sani believes his children are a good investment.

“My family is very poor but my children can make the foundation of the future and we all know that,” he said.

“We all want our children to grow up and become good adults in the future.

“That is why I’m worrying so much this time. I want to make sure that they’re in school; I want to make sure that they succeed in life.”

Sani added every child had the right to the best possible education.

“There’s a famous saying that faith goes together with work, I don’t want to just sit around but I need to work by selling these hot dogs every day.”
