Samoa must learn from Hawaii

Dear Editor

Re: Protest march a success

There are no 190,000 supporters of the H.R.P.P.

The election in Samoa is as dodgy as the D.N.C in the U.S.

They follow the mandates of the corporate elite.

What Samoa is going through happened to Hawaii 60 years ago. Corporate interests took control of the land and people were moved off slowly at first and then eventually they were replaced by hotels and big business.

Now 2017 many Hawaiians live in tents at the beach.....homeless.

What is the price of development when it only benefits a few people?

The rich in Samoa? We have seen it happen in Hawaii and other places. Now the same development, hotels, tourism, selling of land, conversion of customary lands through illegal laws...L.T.R.A. 2008, these are all the steps taken before.

We know the game plan and how it plays out in the long run.....trust me, it does not benefit the Samoan people.

If we could fast forward 50 yrs from today you would see Samoa in the same situation as Hawaii today.

Polynesians homeless while foreigners run the business and political entities. Why would you want that for our people unless you are not Samoan?
