Last Saturday was not an ordinary Saturday for Taupa’u Joseph Mulipola and Declan Fa’alava’au To’omata.

It was the day where their journey as husband and wife began. 

Declan, 26, hails from the village of Vaimoso, Saanapu, Samata, Satupaitea and Falelatai. The daughter of To’omata Aki Tuipe’a and Kapeneta Vitolina To’omata, she works as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Public Service Commission.

Taupa’u, also 26, is the son of Mulipola Iosefo Mulipola and Sala Lusia Mulipola. 

An employee of Samoa Civil Society Support Programme, he hails from Leauva’a, Manono, Leulumoega, Matavai Safune, Solosolo, Lefaga

According to the lovebirds, they have been together for three years and three months. Joseph talked about how he had first laid eyes on Declan in 2014 during the S.I.D.S. Conference. He mustered up the courage to ask her out and they haven’t looked back since.

 People can call it cliché but for these two it was love at first sight.

 “The highlight of our relationship was there was an instant connection and we clicked in everything,” he said.

“We understand each other and we both come from same background of having strong cultural and religious families and that strengthens our relationship even more.” 

The wedding ceremony was held at the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church Vaimoso followed by a reception at the N.U.S. Fale.

The Maid of Honor was Si’alei Pandorah Mulipola while Timothy Perefoti Komiti was the Best Man.
