B.S.P. secures championship naming rights

Bank South Pacific (B.S.P.) has secured the naming rights for the National Elite Touch Championships. 

A cheque of $6000 and merchandise worth $3000 was presented to the Samoa Touch Referee director and representative of the Samoa Touch Rugby Inc., Asiata Seve Gerard Anapu at the bank’s main branch in Apia. 

Head of Finance for B.S.P. Samoa, Jennifer Ula-Fruean, said the sponsorship confirms the bank’s commitment to promoting gender equality and living a healthy lifestyle. 

“We are tremendously excited to announce our partnership with the Samoa Touch Rugby in sponsoring the National Elite Touch – Clash of the Legends Tournament.”   

“With this sponsorship, B.S.P. is continuing its commitment to developing talented youth through high performing teams to help build a better sporting nation.”  

“This partnership also highlights B.S.P’s commitment to promote gender equality and leading a healthy lifestyle,” she said. 

The Samoa Touch Referee director and representative of the Samoa Touch Rugby Inc., Asiata Seve Gerard Anapu, expressed their appreciation on behalf of their president for the donation. 

The B.S.P. National Elite Touch - Clash of the Legends tournament will be used to select Samoa’s National training squad for the upcoming Touch World Cup in Malaysia and the Pacific Games next year. 

The tournament will showcase Samoa’s best talent who aim to meet the high level and standard of touch rugby internationally.  

The tournament will run from August 31 to September 1 at the Marist Club Rugby Field at Lotopa and St Joseph’s College fields at Alafua. 

There will be four franchises competing in the National Elite Touch Clash of the Legends – Vaea (men’s and womens), Tagaloa Lagi (men’s and women’s), Nafanua (men’s and women’s) and Va’atausili, and a team made up of New Zealand-based Samoans players competing in the men’s division.
