Everyone has their own stories of daily struggles to tell.

For John Totua Faifailoa, 51, he is an unemployed father of three from the village of Moata’a-Uta. He needs help with his house.

Mr. Faifailoa said life is really hard on his end because not only is he unemployed, but he needs some work done for his house.

He said they don’t have any problems with their water connection and electricity.

“As you can see, my house is in a bad condition because it’s a very old house and a few things need to be done in terms of safety.

“The back side is too low and I’m just using iron roofing for the sides because that was all I could afford for my house.

“We just finished repairing the rooftop because the rain usually seeps through our old iron roofing.

“So that is what I need right now, some timber to improve the condition of my house.”

Mr. Faifailoa was doing work around his place when the Village Voice team met him yesterday morning.

He also mentioned that life is really hard in Samoa nowadays.

“We are lucky that only four of us live here because my wife and I are unemployed.

“My eldest son just recently stopped going to school at Loto Taumafai, my second one is in New Zealand and another is still in school in Samoa.

“I used to work but then I stopped because I have to work on my plantation.

“So basically that is where we get our money today. It is from my plantation and from backyard chickens that I sell.”

Mr. Faifailoa would appreciate any help he can get from anyone who is keen to help him. He can be contacted on 7748263.
