The sentencing of Daniel Vailopa has been postponed due to his lawyer Alalatoa Rosella Papali’i being away from the country.

It has now been adjourned until 4th November before the Supreme Court.

Vailopa was scheduled to be sentenced last week for attempting to sexually violate a Norwegian woman climbing the Mount Vaea trail last year.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charges against him including the theft of a cell phone belonging to the victim.

The woman was working in the country when the incident occurred.

Vailopa escaped from Tafaigata prison on 2nd August 2015 where he made his way to Vailima and attempted to sexually violate the victim.

He also stole the cell phone valued at AUD$2,000.

The prisoner was dealt with in the District Court on the charge of escaping prison.

Two weeks ago Vailopa requested for name suppression for fear of being identified in the media.

However, Supreme Court Judge, Tafaoimalo Leilani Warren ruled against the request denying name suppression for Vailopa.
