Money, it is said, is what makes the world go round.

But how about those who do not have money?

Here is Sefo Sifo who could testify to the struggle of his world not turning because of the lack of money.

“Life is not easy; it is a never-ending battle to work hard to be able to provide for your family. I barely have enough money and there are so many things that need to be completed,” he said.

The father of four said that his main concern is his children, especially when his family does not have electricity or water at home.

He also said having no electricity affects his children’s studies.

Mr. Sifo said he has so many other obligations such as putting food on the table, paying his children’s school fees, extended family commitments and contributing to the Village Council. 

He told the Village Voice team yesterday morning that everything needs money.

Mr. Sifo works as a seasonal worker, but when he is not overseas on contract, then you will find him in his vegetable garden preparing to sell his produce. 

If the weather is decent, then there is a possibility that he could earn about $300 a week from his vegetables.

The 38-year-old said the income they receive from selling their vegetables is not consistent; sometimes they get way below $300.

For the time being, Mr. Sifo and his eldest son are both hoping for an opportunity for seasonal employment.

Mr. Sifo is from Faleasiu and he said life was very hard but he needs to work hard for his family’s survival.
