BETWEEN THE LINES

Banking whispers

Whispers about the change of ownership for a major player in the banking industry in Samoa has been laughed off.

BTL understands that one local bank had apparently made an offer to buy another bank.

That much we can tell you.

Contacted for a comment, the boss of the bank rumoured to have been given the offer, said they looked at it and said no. It was a joke.

Whatever it is, stay tuned.

Stui’s movements

After C.H.O.G.M. last week in London, Prime Minister Tuilaepa has yet to arrive in the country. BTL understands that he is scheduled to arrive towards the end of the week.

Where he is now, we haven’t been told.

But we know for a fact he has to be in the country next week for the official opening of the Faleolo Airport Arrivals.

Now that’s something to look forward to.

In meantime, can somebody tell us where in the world is Stui? After all, he is the Prime Minister and people do like to know about his movements.

What do you think?

Welcome Parker!

Good to see Joseph Parker in Samoa.

The down to earth champion is such a nice guy that he really takes the time out to say hello and talk to people.

He is a real people’s champ.

Let’s hope he never changes. Malo champ!

A first for the world

From the world of weird and wacky news, here’s another first.

A team of U.S. doctors had apparently successfully carried out the world's first total transplant of a penis and scrotum yesterday.

Surgeons at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, performed the operation on a soldier who had been wounded by a bomb in Afghanistan.

Reports say they used a penis, scrotum and partial abdominal wall transplanted from a deceased donor.

They say the soldier should be able to regain sexual function, which is impossible with penis reconstructions. The team of 11 surgeons performed the transplant over 14 hours on 26 March.

Boy, is there anything that is not possible anymore?
