The gift of obedience

Obedience is the best gift you can offer your parents.

So says 16 year old Tatou Hinoa from Tuana’i.

Tatou told Village Voice he is currently in Year 10 at Wesley College at Faleula.

“It is always good to look around us and calculate how much our parents are spending on us because this is our motivation to become better people in the future. You know earning money is not an easy thing.

“So this will drive us to do well in our education so that one day we will be able to give back to our parents.

He went on “We should be honest, obey our parents and our teachers. We should also find ways to help them while we can; you know like doing chores at home every day.”

Tatou is performing to the best of his abilities at school so that he can secure a better future from his education.

“This is the only way we can give back to our parents; making use of the education they are paying for and seeking a better future to give them the life they need.

“My parents are my motivation and I know that without them; I wouldn’t know what to do and I wouldn’t know how to survive this world.

“So I have goals and these goals will always be for the betterment of my family.

“And I know that nothing makes parents happier than knowing their children are obedient people and also striving their best for the future, to not only get a better life for their families but also for themselves.

“Obedience; this is what I’m advising our generation to offer our parents because this will make our parents happy and for me, seeing my parents happy, makes me happy.”

Junior also said he loves sports and rugby is one of his favourite sports.

“I also dream to have an opportunity to play rugby in the future, you know as a profession but in the meantime I give all my focus to my education first.”
