Unsuccessful candidate pleads not guilty

Tu’ula Kiliri Tuitui, who was one of the unsuccessful candidates for the General Election in March this year appeared in the District Court this week. 

He was accused of making false declarations to the Office of the Electoral Commissioner. 

This matter was brought before Judge Vaepule Vaemoa Vaai, with Iliganoa Atoa appearing on behalf of the National Prosecution Service and Leotasuatele Manusegi representing Tu’ula. 

On Tuesday, Tu’ula entered a plea of not guilty to the charge against him and the matter has now been adjourned to the 1st August 2016 for hearing. 

Tu’ula was one of the election candidates who was disqualified by his Honour Chief Justice Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu after the hearing of his eligibility as a candidate for the Lepa Constituency.
