From humble beginnings, businessman Ututa’aloga Charlie Ulia, has added another arrow to his bow yesterday with the opening of Samoa’s newest cement making company.

Located at Aleisa, Ulia Certified Concrete was officially opened by Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, who congratulated the company.

“Small is beautiful,” Tuilaepa said.

“This is not a new company that we gather today to open.

“It’s a company that started very small with road constructions and it has steadily grown over the years until now.”

Tuilaepa said the company’s decision to branch out into a different type of business shows initiative and courage.

“This is the second company in Samoa that work to make certified concrete. The first is Apia Concrete Products.

“I want to congratulate Ututa’aloga for this great achievement.”

In response, Owner of Ulia Certified Concrete, Ututa’aloga acknowledged the support of the government, especially Prime Minister Tuilaepa.

He said he was extremely grateful for a 30-acre lease from the government, through the Samoa Land Corporation, that has allowed him to operate the business at Aleisa.

About the new business, Ututa’aloga said everything is computerised.

“We also have a laboratory that can test all types of cements to meet the needs of our customers,” he said.

The businessman said he looks forward to continuing to serve Samoa.

Reverend Luapene Nepo, of the C.C.C.S. at Afega, conducted the opening prayer to bless the business.
