Positive thinking encouraged

“Positive thinking achieves positive results.”

With this mantra in mind, the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa (S.R.O.S) gathered its stakeholders at Hotel Elisa to discuss new project ideas, possible partnership options and look at the organisation’s plans for the next three years.

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, La’aulialemalietoa Polata’ivao Leuatea, said the gathering is extremely important.

“The feedback from you is quite significant,” he said, adding that such can contribute to “improve the quality of life for all” in Samoa.

The Minister declared that, with new ideas presented at this consultation, there would be a chance to “overcome some of the trade challenges that are currently experienced by Samoa”.  These include the “reducing of Samoa’s dependency on imports including fossil fuels.”

To fight the country’s economic challenges in particular, the research organisation presented a series of products.

These were developed as a result of S.R.O.S.’s partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and are significant for the country’s economy.

According to the organisation and its supporters, the products might emerge as highly profitable concerning Samoa’s own economy.  S.R.O.S. gave its stakeholders the unique opportunity to try and assess some of the newly introduced products right at the consultation.

The series’ prototypes presented at the consultation include products made of frozen breadfruit and taro flower, frozen breadfruit chips, vanilla extract, avocado oil and coconut margarine to name only a few.
