The combination of quality coaching and the right support systems produce top athletes and winning teams.

With that in mind, Football Federation Samoa (F.F.S) is working with football’s governing body, FIFA, to produce Samoa’s very own quality coaches.

This was the case last week during the one-week FIFA Grassroots Coaching Course facilitated by FIFA Instructor, Paul Toohey.

The course was conducted by FIFA Instructor Paul Toohey.

During the closing ceremony of the course on Friday, Mr. Toohey said FIFA’s goal is improve the development of football in Samoa by training coaches.

“Behind a good team is the coach and from coaching it has to start from the bottom which is the grassroots level,” he said.

During the training, the participants learnt how to effectively coach different age groups to develop and continue to build their love for soccer.

The course is not new to Samoa, being one of many coaching courses provided by FIFA to achieve its mission of “building a better future in football.”

F.F.S’s grassroots football development focuses on children between the ages of 6 to 12 years.
