For some people, getting into a relationship and starting a family comes naturally.

Not everyone is the same though.

Some people like to take their time and weigh their options before committing.

At 32- years-of age, Farani Vitale, of Falefa, falls in that bracket.Farani had just returned from his plantation when the Village Voice team caught up with him yesterday.

He believes the time will come for him to have a family but for now, it’s not a priority.

“It is not easy to develop your family and set-up living arrangements,” he said.

“I see it as a big commitment, you have to be prepared for it.

“To be honest I do think about having a family of my own but I’m still busy planning it.

“A lot of people think about having wives and kids just like that but I also see them struggle because they don’t plan it. They just get into it without thinking.”

Farani said he has been seriously thinking about starting his own family.

“I found a lot of girls but it’s just that I’m not ready to have kids and develop my own family,” he said.

“I will know when the time is right. I will marry and settle down, I will be able to care for the kids and provide them with everything they want.”

In the meantime, Farani said his focus is to care for his mother and siblings.

“I work as a farmer. The rest of my siblings have steady jobs and they have all got families of their own,” he said.

“I’m happy and content with my life.

“I do what I can to help them every day. I make my way to the plantation to gather what I can for not only food but to sell for money.

“I don’t mind working because it’s what I enjoy.”

Asked about some of the challenges of working alone, he says there is not much.

“I’m used to this kind of life,” Farani added.

“The only thing that bothers me a little is how far I walk from home to the plantation. Apart from that, everything else is fine.”
