The children of the late Tanuvasa Manaia Feliuai Masoe and his wife, Lusila Mataeliga Masoe, of Asau, are in Samoa to celebrate their week-long family reunion.

The reunion brings together three generations of family members from New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and American Samoa.

Moe Masoe, the eldest of the eight children, told the Samoa Observer that the reunion is about strengthening their family ties.

“This is a great opportunity for us, the eight children, to have our children and grandchildren meet each other,” he said.

“We want our children to know each other and also show the spirit of love and support as we are still in the festive season.”

“It is important for our children to know their roots.”

Masoe also thanked his parents for taking good care of them and showing them the importance of family.

“It is a great time as well to share stories of our lives and be with the whole family again after so many years apart.”

“My mother, Lusila, passed away on 31st of December 2008 and then our father passed away in 2011.”

“Tomorrow we will have an unveiling for both our parents to mark our first family reunion.”

“They are forever remembered in our hearts because without their commitment, love and support, we would not have been where we are today.”

Masoe says they would decide by the end of their reunion today whether this was going to be an annual event.
