Yesterday, B.B.E Vaiala team took top place in the first leg of the S.I.F.A National Sevens Circuit  of 2017.

The Cup final boiled down to B.B.E Vaiala and Saasai, with a final score of 33-19.

The men in black came out strong scoring the first two tries within 5 minutes of kickoff.  The Head Coach, Rudy Leavasa fielded a strong team as most of the starting lineup were professional players like Maus Samoa’s Patrick Faapale, Telea Seumanutafa, Samoa A’s Mealani Maualaivao and Miakele Tapili and tai kwan do turned 10’s professionalist, Kaino Fuataga.  The team was led by Sevens Sensation, Alatasi Tupou who lead a very strong campaign against Sasaai.

Still, Sasaai held their ground in the first half.  After Vaiala scored back to back tries, Sasaai was determined to put some points on the board.  Finding their footing late in the second half, Saasai’s brightest stars showed their skill with two amazingly well deserved tries.

Now catching up, Vaiala made one final attempt before the whistle for half time.   Soon after, a Vaiala player bursted through the open space for another try under the sticks.

Back from half, Vaiala continued their momentum. A  dropped line out ball and quick reaction from a man in black who pounced on the free ball led to yet another try for Vaiala.

Keeping their composure, Sasaai remained strong.  A line out meters away from the try line, Saasai’s hooker overshot the jumpers and landed right in the hands of an awaiting Saasai player who dove into the try zone.

Time was dwindling down to the last few minutes of the match and Saasai was gaining momentum on the  men in black. Until finally, a Vaiala player ran for dear life from half to the try line bulldozing anyone in his way for the last and final try of the game.
