Church sports day unites members

Members of the Assembly of God Church Leonē had one last sports day yesterday to send members of their church back to work and school all fit and ready for the week.

The joyous atmosphere could be felt on the outer edges of the Leifiifi rugby field where the gathering took place.

Laughs, smiles and competitive team cheers were the order of the day as the church members made the most of their game time and ended the long weekend on a high.

Every year, the church’s Christ Ambassador (C.A) programme hosts events such as these to bring their church members closer together in a fun and healthy environment. C.A. president Michael Pagaiali’i told Samoa Observer that they try their best to get their church members to be active with games programmes.

“This is a C.A. programme which happens once a year. We divide the church members into three teams which are: Aleluia, Osanna and Amene,” he said. “Every holiday we try and have events like these which are fun and enjoyable for all.”

“This is all about having fun and being closer together. A church that stands together is hard to break down,” Mr. Pagaiali’i said.

“Today we will be playing rugby, soccer, sitting down volleyball and we’ll have flag races, egg races and many others. We want our members to be actively healthy in their walk with the Lord and their physical body.”
