A young soccer player was assaulted by a member of the management team during the recent Under 17 Championship. Held in the Cook Islands at the beginning of this year, a source told the Samoa Observer that two members of the management team had been drinking alcohol.

One of them assaulted the young player. The Chief Executive Officer of the Football Federation, Faumuina Michael Kapisi confirmed that there were some disciplinary issues during the trip.

“The relevant individuals concerned were immediately disciplined and subsequently are no longer affiliated with the F.F.S.,” Faumuina stated in an email sent to the Samoa Observer.

“As far as F.F.S. is concerned, this internal matter has been dealt with accordingly and we consider it closed and we have no further comment.”
