Leaders and members of the Congregational Church In Samoa have gathered for their annual conference, which started this week.

The two-week conference is being held at Vailima.

“This is our annual general conference and it’s held every year,” said Church General Secretary, Rev. Aleni Wendt.

“The theme for the youth gathering this week is ‘Now it’s the time’,

“Normally,  this week is only for youth members to participate in lots of bible studies, skits and sharing about many of the issues that they need to look at to fulfill themselves spiritually,

“It’s an opportunity for youths of our church to know more about the Lord and showcase their talents.”

The Congregational Church in Samoa was first established in 1942.

“The church was established by some of the pastors of the Congregational Christian Church back in the days,

“As of today, we have nearly twenty churches in Samoa and overseas with rough estimations of nearly six thousands church members.”

Rev. Wendt said many issues will be raised during the conference next week.

“For this year, we’re looking at building a church, but not yet finalised,

“Next year will be our 75th anniversary and that’s why we’re thinking for a new church building.

“Also to this conference is looking at revising our Tusi Pese but many of the issues will be discussed next week.

The main service to start the main conference next week will be on Sunday.
