Getting a good education is the key to success.

Jack Fepulea’i of Vaitele Fou believes this. The 18 year old is a student at Faleata College.

“I’m the eldest of four siblings and I have to lead by example,” he said.

“As the eldest I want my siblings to look up to me as someone they can trust.”

“I’m not going to lie it is challenging being the eldest.”

“There are times when I just feel like doing whatever I want but at the end of the day; it is my duty to my family.”

“When times are tough, I reach out to my parents for guidance and I am fortunate for them,” he said.

“I believe that when parents do not communicate and bond with their children that’s when things go wrong,” said the young man.

“I am always mindful of that.”

“Home is the starting of your life and this is where you build yourself as a person.”

“This is where we face our first teachers; our parents and we must have that strong relationship I am certain it will be good for everyone.”

Jack told Village Voice that he’s thankful for his committed parents.

“My parents are always encouraging me to finish school and that is why I work so hard so that I can achieve my dreams because as the eldest; I want to lead by example for my younger siblings.”

When asked by Village Voice of what he wants to be in the future, he said: “I dream of becoming a Police Officer one day.”

“Everything takes time but this is my last year in college and hopefully if I do make it to the National University of Samoa; that’s another step in life.”

“As long as I have my parents to help me in my journey; I know I will be okay.”
