Transportation and good roading infrastructure is critical for everyone.

So says one Falelauniu resident, Tala Merita, who says the government should pay attention and fix their roads.

Tala was in front of his house yesterday morning with his child when the Village Voice met up with him.

He said things have been good within their place except for the road conditions.

“The roads around here have been bad and we have been asking for help to fix them but have been unsuccessful at all times,” he said.

“Transportation is one of the most important areas for survival but with this kind of road, it is really hard because it affects all other areas of life.”

Tala said they pay a high price for the bad roads.

“First of all it will affect us because it will surely cause damages to our vehicle and will cost us more money to fix our cars which are already expensive to run,” he said.

“Another problem that will affect us is our health. The dust from the road is unhealthy because everyone ends up eating and breathing it. The cars don’t slow down at all and that is very frustrating.”

Tala said this is not safe for his family and other families living nearby.

Away from the road issue, Tala is also looking for a job to help his family.

“I am also looking for a job right now just to assist my family financially especially providing for my son,” he said.

“Things are not the same and the only solution right now is to get a job to support my own family as well as my parents.”
