A police Sergeant and a former election candidate accused of sexually related offenses against a female cop appeared before the Supreme Court on Monday.

The suspended Sergeant Laauli Magic Junior Laauli made his first appearance before Supreme Court Judge Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma.

He was represented by lawyer Aeau Tima Leavai acting on behalf of Mauga Precious Chang.

The prosecution sought an adjournment to allow for finalisation of charges against La’auli.

The defendant is facing charges of sexual connection and rape connected to a recent complaint lodged by a junior female officer.

The matter has been adjourned until next Monday for the police to finalise charges. The defendant is yet to take a plea.

The senior police officer contested in the October 2021 by-election for Falealili No.2 under the Fa’atuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.) flag.

He contested the seat under his Fuimaono title and rejoined the police force when unsuccessful.

The Ministry of Police, Prisons and Correction Services put up a notice last month to confirm a Sergeant was being charged with sexually related offenses.
